Moog Changes The Game. Again.

I've been hearing about the new Moog guitar for a while. I was interested, but didn't really know what to expect. Today I came across this video featuring Lou Reed and Vernon Reid and it absolutely floored me.

The special sauce: strings that have "a specific metallurgy designed to work with the Moog pickups." Marketing manager Chris Stack told Listening Post, "the pickups are simultaneously listening to the strings and controlling them."
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed the guitar. I only take mine out of the case a few times a year. But this could change everything. As a formally educated guitarist and synth geek, I have a decent understanding of the forces at play here. But my eyes and ears can't help but interpret the results as magic. After watching the video, it's easy to see that Lou Reed feels the same way.

Of course, if I had $7000 to spend on a Moog, I would be taking home a device with keys, not strings.
