BOOKMARK
The mellotron was widely used by bands like The Beatles. Check 'Strawberry Fields' for some prime mellotron work. Fun fact: Trent Reznor now owns the mellotron used in the recording. Throbbing Gristle built and played devices similar to Make's in the 70's.
Bre Pettis and Eric Beug create a mellotron-like instrument out of walkmans and then go crazy and hack a sequencer into an arduino!
previously on wtg:
- behind the beatles: strawberry fields forever
- genesis p-orridge talks about throbbing gristle
- getv talks to 'captured by robots'
- ibm 1401: an unintentionally musical mainframe
- moog + wiimote = theramin?
- the eloic transducer: electronic, pneumatic, acoustic instrument
