How To Help: Should You Donate That Dollar or Loan It?
POSTED ON 2/14/2006 | PERMALINK |2 Comments | BOOKMARK

How can you do the most good with a dollar? You could donate it in the name of the environment, religion, politics, education, science, culture, global poverty or capitalism.

Or you could loan it to someone.

An article at Slate takes a very practical approach to finding the most bang for your buck. Charity has an undeniable personal, even irrational, element to it. And there's nothing wrong with that, especially as that element is often the very inspiration for giving in the first place. However, that doesn't make an article such as this unwelcome. Read it and integrate a small dose of practicality the next time you give.
