Behind The Beatles: Dear Prudence

"Dear Prudence" was written by John Lennon while the Beatles were in India visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Among other celebrities attending the ashram at the same time as the Beatles were singer/songwriter Donovan, Mike Love of the Beach Boys, Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence, who was having a difficult stay. Prudence wouldn't come out of her hut so John played his guitar and serenaded her with the song lyrics, Dear Prudence... won't you come out to play?

Perhaps the reason she didn't want to come out, is the alleged incident of sexual contact between the Maherishi and Mia. This reported "oneness", which was more corporal than spiritual, is also blamed for the Beatles sudden, and ill-humored departure from the ashram.

Go and read a bit more about "this incident" which never happened. People just love to tear down stars and celebrities. I know people who were on that course (it was a TM Teacher Training Course "TTC") and I also sat and had many lunches with Prudence who is a very nice lady... just someone's Mom... just a nice person, not a celebrity, just someone very friendly and approachable. But its all on the web/net if you care to look it up. Read and ask questions but don't assume the worst about people (unless they're politicians!) Good luck in your search for the truth.
