Rock Lobster can best be described as an epic punk freakout. Released 10 years before the mainstream success of "Love Shack", the track sums up The B-52s better than any single track in their catalog.

The influence this track had on others should not be underestimated. Rolling Stone considers it one of the greatest songs ever and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lists it as one of 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll. John Lennon liked it so much that he claimed it inspired him to return to the recording studio after a 5 year retirement.

The band members -- Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson in particular -- are inimitable. No one would be foolish enough to attempt a cover...except, perhaps, Peter Griffin.
